Mohieqxweth / Eileen Jacobs Active Elder

Squamish NationMohieqxweth / Eileen Jacobs has dedicated her life to supporting and uplifting the Squamish Nation community. She began her career as a Ministry SAW financial aid worker with Squamish Nation and later transitioned into program work alongside Elders — eventually becoming a respected Elder herself.

Today, Eileen serves as an active Elder in the Squamish Valley Nation, offering cultural guidance, wisdom, and prayers for youth, community members, and events.

She plays a vital role as an Auntie for two Squamish Community daycare programs, helping nurture the next generation, and in 2024, she and Elder Cynthia Lewis proudly served as Aunties for the Zero Ceiling program, supporting Indigenous and non indigenous youth in need.

Eileen’s deep commitment shows in her tireless involvement — she actively provides Elder oversight and cultural presence three to four times a week in service to her community. Her lifelong dedication continues to strengthen the cultural fabric and well-being of the Squamish people.

In addition to her cultural leadership, Eileen is an IPI-BFS Practitioner™ | Facilitator-Trainer with The Therapeutic Loop IPI-BFS™ system, where she brings her deep cultural knowledge and lived experience to help guide others through meaningful, transformative healing work. She is widely recognized for her calm presence, wisdom, and lifelong commitment to intergenerational healing,  making her an invaluable leader across both community and professional spaces.

Cynthia Lewis (Pek Tsisten Slhany)

Cynthia Lewis (Pek Tsisten Slhany) is a respected Elder with over 12 years of dedicated service to her community. She currently serves as the Elder in Residence at Squamish Nation Schools, providing cultural teachings, a guiding presence, and the sharing of traditional knowledge to Indigenous youth, educators, and the broader community. In this role, Cynthia mentors students and staff alike, helping integrate cultural values into daily learning and ensuring the wisdom of her people is passed down to future generations.

Beyond her work in education, Cynthia is frequently called upon to offer opening prayers at high-profile gatherings and ceremonies. Her leadership, wisdom, and cultural integrity have earned her wide respect across Nations, making her a sought-after presence for both ceremonial and community events. She is also regularly invited by WorkSafeBC to sit in on sensitive First Nations cases, where she brings vital cultural context, safety, and care to complex processes.

Cynthia works alongside her two sisters as part of MMI Mission (mmimission.com), a First Nations-led initiative raising funds to provide safe rides in remote communities — addressing a critical need for transportation safety in isolated regions.

In addition, Cynthia is an IPI-BFS™ Facilitator-Trainer with The Therapeutic Loop™, where she brings her cultural depth and lived experience to help guide others through transformative healing work. She is widely known for her deep calm, wisdom, and lifelong commitment to intergenerational healing, making her an invaluable leader in both cultural and professional spaces.
