OUR STORY
MMI MISSION STORY

Across northern Turtle Island known to the world as Canada, Indigenous women, girls, men, 2 Spirit and boys have increasingly become missing. Their bodies when or if found often have been raped, beaten, murdered, and discarded on deserted roads such as Highway #16 & 37 in northern British Columbia. Now known as
THE HIGHWAY OF TEARS.

Each one of these individuals are connected to families, and communities just like your people, causing enormous pain and lifelong scarring for generations.

In recent years a New Community of Highway drivers have emerged versus men and woman drivers who lived in the rule communities and once well known, now transient drivers. Combined with large industry placing 400-4000 worker camps sharing the same isolated roads resulting in First Nation people being targets for this non-stop sexual abuse and violence.
Our Communities need much more than just awareness, we needed a solve! MMI MISSION and supporters are taking ACTION to create that solve!

Imagine living in a remote village with no industr,y to make money. How as a youth do you survive or take part in larger community venues? Your child is removed by ambulance and you have no way to travel to the hospital...what do you do? Out of desperation, you hitch-hike risking your life...

It is through the facilitation of what is needed in continued action, that can we make a difference without interference from bureaucracy and government.
When First Nation people go missing, few hear about those lives until now! Our missing person posters are not aired on the AMBER ALERT!
